Day 1 – Saturday – Arrive Santarem & Alter do Chao
Meet and Greet on arrival. Pickup and en-route to Alto do Chao (pax arriving before 5pm) we will make a quick visit Santa Luzia Acai plantation. Our three deck, 12 cabin Amazon Balsa Dom Giuseppe will be our home for the next week. She has basic but spacious accommodations all with ensuites. Her decks consist of:

Amazon Deck: Five (5) cabins with double or family accommodations. At the front capturing the Amazon breeze are six hammocks for day and night short siestas…
Treetops Deck: Six (6) double staterooms with the dining room at the rear
Sun Deck: Bar, seating and deck chairs. Many meals will be served here also
Our explorer vessel will be anchored off Alter do Chao for reception. Welcome cocktail and welcome sundeck dinner.
Also a shuttle between the vessel and shore will operate after dinner until midnight.

Day 2 – Sunday – Rio Tapajos
Our first two days are spent on Rio Tapajos. It runs through the Amazon Rainforest and is a major tributary of the Amazon River. When combined with the Juruena River, the Tapajós is approximately 1,200 miles long. Early morning whilst we are all sleeping, the captain and crew weigh anchor and start our expedition.
Morning: Jamaraquá Community.
Jamaraqua is a village of approximately fifty people. This morning after breakfast we have a 3-4 hour trek in the rainforest with a village indigenous flora and fauna expert.
Lunch is served back on board our expedition boat whilst we cruise to our afternoon destination.
Afternoon: Sao Domingo
We`ll visit this afternoon to see the local NGO initiative and see how they make therapy oils.

Day 3 – Monday – Rio Tapajos
Morning: Amorim, Igarapé Community
Exciting small boat adventure in the Amorin Igarapé with swimming , fishing , wildlife tourism. An unforgettable experience with Tupinambas Indians
Late Lunch back on board the boat whilst we cruise to our afternoon destination
Afternoon: Afternoon at leisure with an opportunity for a remote beach swim.

Day 4 – Tuesday – Rio Arapiuns
Our next two days will be spent on the Arapiuns. It is a tributary of the Tapajós, and merges into the latter river about 30 km (19 mi) before Tapajós merges into the Amazon River. Arapiuns is a blackwater river.
Morning: 2-3 hour trek: Maripa to Vila Anã Community. A beautiful one way trek from Rio Tapajos to Rio Arapiuns.
Lunch is served back on board our expedition boat.
Afternoon: Vila Anã Community
We visit was to Vila de Anã, where we will visit a very empowered group of women that breed fish (Tambaqui) but are still struggling to find a formula to feed the fish based on local supply of plants and vegetables. The Arapiuns river is poor in fish, so it is very important for the group to find an economic solution to their problem, as industrialized fish food is expensive. Also in the same village we will visit an area where the locals keep honeybees for honey production.

Day 5 – Wednesday – Rio Arapiuns
Morning: Coroca Community
This morning we will have the privilege to visit a local village NGO that is committed to the reservation and protection of turtles in the Amazon.
Lunch back on board the boat whilst we cruise to our afternoon destination
Afternoon: Urucurea
We`ll step ashore to see the community. There is an option for an easy hours walk into the forest to have the chance to see many birds, sloths and monkeys. On the way back we`ll have the chance to see “Trenzados” which is the special way the women in this area weave and make handicrafts.

Day 6 – Thursday – Jari Channel
Morning: Aninduba- Jarí Channel
This morning is easy. We cruise the spectacular Jari Channel. We get a chance for a quick visit to Aninduba which is a small farm which is very interesting where we get to be entertained by a farmer and his wife inside their house.
Lunch back on board the boat whilst we cruise to our afternoon destination
Afternoon – Cruising back to Alter do Chao
Evening anchored off Alter do Chao with regular shuttles to and from beach until midnight.

Day 7 – Friday – Rio Tapajos
In the early hours of the morning we weigh anchor and set off back to Tapajos National Forest.
Morning: Maguari Trek
This trek is the last and the most ambitious and will take 5-6 hours in total. The prize is to see one of the largest Sumauma Trees of known existence. We`ll need the help of the guides plus some, it takes twenty-five people to be able to join hands around the base.
Lunch is served back on board our expedition boat whilst we cruise to our afternoon destination.
Afternoon: River Cruise, Sunset BBQ at Ponta do Cururu & Alto do Chao
We`ll cruise back towards the Jari Channel to Ponta do Cururu. Here we`ll have a beach BBQ in the evening with native music. After sunset we will cruise back to anchor off Alter do Chao for a final evening. A last chance to go ashore once we arrive, boat transfers until midnight.

Day 8 – Saturday – Depart Santarem
We have an early farewell breakfast this morning on our Amazon vessel.
